These Camping Cookers will run on any of the widely available bottled gases. Calor Gas or CampingGaz, Butane or Propane. All you need is one of these camping cookers, a length of hose and a gas regulator to fit the gas bottle you will be using. All available below. The gas regulator screws onto the gas bottle and the hose connects your cooker to the regulator, simple as that!

Which Gas Bottle?
The two major brands widely available in the UK are Calor Gas and CampingGaz. All the camping cookers above will run on any of the gas bottles supplied by either of these, so it doesn't matter which you choose, but unfortunately regulators are not one size fits all, so you will need the correct regulator for your gas bottle.

Calor Gas
Calor Gas is supplied in bottle sizes designated by the weight of gas inside. Either butane (blue bottle) or propane (red bottle) in 2.75kg, 7kg or 13kg sizes. These are larger bottles than CampingGaz offer, designed more for caravans where heaters and possibly gas lights will be run off them in addition to cooking, but they do work out cheaper per kg. The drawback is that Calor Gas is not available abroad, and that a spanner is required to connect the regulator to the smaller size bottle.

CampingGaz
CampingGaz comes in sizes designated as 901, 904 and 907 and all are butane. The regulator offered below fits both the CampingGaz 904 and 907 sizes and screws directly onto the bottle without the need for a spanner. We have chosen to favour CampingGaz because the smaller sized bottles are more convenient for camping (a 2kg CampingGaz bottle could last several years when used for cooking alone, depending how often you go away) and, unlike Calor, CampingGaz is widely available abroad. Oh - and you don't need a spanner!

Which Gas? Butane or Propane?
All the camping cookers above will run on either, so it really doesn't matter which you choose, but basically if you are likely to be going camping in temperatures of less than -5°C butane will freeze, propane won't.

Summary
You cannot go wrong with these camping cookers. They will run on any of the gas bottles and if you did find a need to switch due to local availability when away at home or abroad it shouldn't be a problem. All you need is the regulator that goes with whatever gas bottle is available. Any outlet selling gas bottles should also be able to supply the regulators to go with them.
